**Library** > **Image Registry** is the container registry. It holds the public zCLOUD repository of base images and your tenant's own private repository. Images here are the base environment for tasks and web IDEs. The page has three sub-tabs: **Image Registry**, **Image Build**, and **External Credentials**.

## Preset vs. custom images

Use a preset image (for example a `PyTorch` or `vLLM` image) for common cases. Use a custom or private image for your own environment. For a private image, provide registry credentials under **External Credentials**.

> [!NOTE]
> **Recommended workflow**
> For anything beyond light iteration, package your code into an image and run it as a task, ideally built from CI or a version-controlled `Dockerfile`. This is the reliable path, compared with developing entirely in the IDE. See Notebooks and IDEs.

## Browse images

The **Image Registry** sub-tab has a **Public / Private** toggle, a repository selector, and a search box. Each row shows `Image Name`, `Image Count`, `Pull Count`, `Creation Time`, and `Updated Time`.

The public zCLOUD repository includes base images such as `nvidia-base`, `jupyter-notebook`, and `vscode-notebook`, plus small utility images. Opening an image shows its details: digest name, OCI tags, size, image address, and creation time, with an option to delete.

## Build an image

The **Image Build** sub-tab lists build jobs. Each row shows `Name`, `Source`, `Status`, `Node`, `Creation Time`, and `Completion Time`.

> [!NOTE]
> **Coming soon**
> The step-by-step flow for creating and registering an image is documented here. This section is being finalized.

## External credentials

The **External Credentials** sub-tab stores credentials for pulling from external or private registries. Each entry has a `Name`, `Repository Address`, `User Name`, and `Description`. Use image paths hosted on app.zettabytecloud.com or your own registry.
